Acceptance sampling

Acceptance sampling is a statistical quality control procedure used to determine if a production lot or batch of goods meets the required standards.

It involves taking a sample from a lot or batch and then making a decision about the entire lot or batch based on the sample results.

How to calculate

  1. Establish a sampling plan: The sampling plan should include the sample size, acceptance criteria, and the acceptable quality level.

  2. Collect sample: A sample is taken from the lot or batch and is inspected or tested.

  3. Evaluate results: The sample is evaluated to determine if it meets the specified acceptance criteria.

  4. Accept or reject lot: If the sample meets the criteria, the entire lot is accepted. If it fails, the lot is rejected.

  5. Record results: The results of the acceptance sampling procedure should be documented and kept on file.
